Sharing vocal duties with bandmate Alec, Kirstin weaves tight, engaging harmonies that give Sound Factory its distinctive edge. Their musical chemistry creates a vibrant and polished live experience, blending powerful leads with seamless vocal interplay.

Offstage, Kirstin is an elementary music teacher, a role that reflects her lifelong love of music and dedication to sharing it with others. Whether she’s inspiring young students in the classroom or captivating audiences with Sound Factory, Kirstin’s commitment to music is at the heart of everything she does. 

Alec James is a compelling artist whose vocals command attention from the very first note. As the lead vocalist of Sound Factory, a Campbell River–based band from Vancouver Island, Alec brings a powerful, full-bodied voice that resonates with depth and warmth. His natural ability to lock into rich, layered harmonies gives the band a polished, dynamic sound that stands out in any setting.

Beyond vocals, Alec is a multi-instrumentalist, adding texture and rhythm with electric guitar, harmonica, and stomp box. Whether he’s driving a song forward with a gritty riff or punctuating a groove with percussive flair, his versatility shapes the band’s signature style.

By day, Alec channels his passion for music into teaching as an elementary school music educator, inspiring the next generation with the same enthusiasm he brings to the stage.

Jonathan Carriere is a drummer and backup vocalist who brings precision, creativity, and a deep technical sensibility to every performance. A self-taught musician, he has developed his craft through instinct, dedication, and a sharp attention to detail that shapes both his playing and his sound design.

Specializing in electric drums, Jonathan blends rhythm with technology, creating dynamic, polished performances that elevate the band’s overall sound. His ability to fine-tune tones, trigger custom samples, and mix audio makes him a forward driving force behind the band’s sonic identity. As the group’s go-to audio tech, he ensures that every beat hits clean and every layer is dialed in with clarity.

Outside of music, Jonathan works as an IT specialist for the Campbell River School District, where his problem-solving mindset and technical expertise shine. That same analytical approach carries over into his music, giving him a unique edge both on stage and behind the scenes.
